Golden Entertainment, the company behind the Strat and 66 taverns across the city, told employees they must show proof of a COVID 19 vaccination or present a weekly negative COVID-19 test. The gaming company offered no timeframe for the new employment requirement.
The gaming company — which owns Arizona Charlie’s Decatur and Arizona Charlie’s Boulder as well as Aquarius and Edgewater in Laughlin, Nevada, and the Nugget, Gold Town, and Lakeside in Pahrump, Nevada — joins MGM Resorts in requiring employees to get vaccinated or showing weekly proof of a negative COVID 19 test.
At MGM Resorts, salaried employees who don’t work from home must show proof of vaccination by October 15. New hires must do the same starting August 31. The new policy does not extend to hourly employees.
Other venues opted to take advantage of the state’s new directive that permits large events with more than 4,000 seats to require proof of vaccination to attend and not wear a mask. The Las Vegas Raiders now require fans to use the Clear Health Pass app to verify vaccination status starting with the team’s home opener on September 13 against the Baltimore Ravens. Other events, such as Life Is Beautiful, also require attendees to be vaccinated or show a negative COVID 19 test, while the Consumer Technology Association’s CES Show in January 2022 and the National Association of Broadcasters’ NAB Show in April 2022 also announced that their conventions plan to require vaccination proof for entry.
Last Friday, Nevada reported that more than 50 percent of those 12 and older received the vaccination.
