On the longest delayed and most-anticipated debuts in recent memory may finally come to fruition this fall, when Pennsylvania-based Bruster’s Real Ice Cream opens its first home-style parlor on the westside.

Fans of the East Coast chain waited more than three years since the company promised it was preparing to unveil multiple Las Vegas locations.

Following a change of building contractors earlier this year, the local franchise in recent weeks emerged from hibernation, reviving its Facebook account and tentatively announcing an October 3 launch date.

Preparing all its desserts in house, Bruster’s will move into a built-from-scratch store at 2860 S. Durango Drive, close to Edna Avenue. Already promoting its drive-thru window, the building will also include a 630-square-foot indoor seating section and a large kitchen that can create custom cakes or ice cream pies.

Drawing from an inventory of 150 ice cream, yogurt, Italian ice, and sorbet flavors, Bruster’s intends to feature 24 different options on its menu each day. Served in sundaes, cups, or sugar and cake cones, to-go orders can be packed into pints, quarts, and half-gallons.

Select stores in the kid-friendly chain hand out baby cones to customers less than 40 inches tall and free doggie sundaes for any furry companions.
