Rooster Boy Cafe closed in Desert Shores. The breakfast and lunch restaurant from chef Sonia El-Nawal opened on the shores of Lake Jacqueline in 2018. El-Nawal announced the closing on Instagram. She had a stall at Vegas Test Kitchen in Downtown Las Vegas dubbed Bodega Bagel that also recently departed the venue. She may return thought in larger space to take care of the bagels she sells to casinos.
Other recent closings include The Pub, the restaurant at the Shops at Crystals. The former home of Todd English P.U.B. becomes Toca Madera, the Mexican restaurant out of Los Angeles. English departed in 2017.
Over at Bally’s Tequila Taqueria Bar & Grill closed. The 80-seat Mexican restaurant opened in 2015 with vintage tortilla presses and other cultural icons decorating the space done in festive colors with strings of light hanging overhead. Buca di Beppo at Bally’s also closed with its over-sized portions and all-you-can-eat breakfast and lunch buffets. The resort, which still has not reopened its decadent Sterling Brunch at BLT Steak, did not announce replacements for the two venues. Vital Vegas originally tweeted the news.
In other news, Searsucker, the one remaining restaurant originally from Top Chef: All Stars Season 17 finalist Brian Malarkey, temporarily closed at Caesars Palace. Malarkey ended his involvement with Searsucker and Herringbone, two restaurant brands that he conceived and launched in San Diego, in 2018. In 2014, Malarkey sold a majority stake of the restaurants to global restaurant and nightlife group Hakkasan Ltd., now owned by Tao Group. Searsucker opened in 2015 spanning 7,500 square feet next to Omnia Nightclub.
