Eight Cigar Lounge, the new cigar and spirits lounge from Clique Hospitality, plans to make its big debut at Resorts World on Thursday, November 4. The chic lounge sits in the resort’s District, the 70,000-square-foot shopping esplanade that runs along Las Vegas Boulevard. Eight Cigar Lounge slots in next to ¡Viva! from chef Ray Garcia and Bar Zazu, the tapas restaurant and lounge opening in October from chef Nicole Brisson.
Eight takes its name from the lucky number in Chinese culture. The Cantonese word for eight, which is pronounced “ba,” sounds similar to another word that means prosper or wealth. It can also mean infinite in Eastern Asia. The lounge incorporates the number throughout the venue, even dividing the space into eight rooms, and a humidor divided into eight sections with more than 150 cigars ranging from $18 to $1,500 from Drew Estate, Arturo Fuente, and Ashton, along with an ever-changing rotation of top-notch cigars. Entrepreneurs Giuseppe Bravo and attorney David Chesnoff envisioned the cigar bar portion of the venue.
While the custom-built humidor takes center stage, the lounge comes with an air filtration system that eliminates the smell of cigar smoke. Clique designed the lounge with masculine and feminine touches with a 2,300-square-foot outdoor patio overlooking the Strip with a fireplace and a misting and heating trellis.
A locker program enables customers to store alcohol and cigars at an optimal temperature and humidity for a fee. An adjoining retail space brings lighters, cutters, and humidors, including the $10,000 Elie Bleu humidor that comes with 25 limited-edition Fuente OpusX cigars, all of which measure seven inches by 50 ring gauge. Less than 6,000 of the cigars were produced worldwide. The box, created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Fuente Fuente OpusX, features green and wood accents.
The bartenders double as cigar sommeliers to help guide customers to different tobacco profiles and can pair cigars with cocktails, including a barrel-aged Boulevardier, a Manhattan, or Old Fashioned, all made using premium whiskeys and bourbons.
