Catch brings a new celebrity vibe to Las Vegas, served with Instagram-worthy decor and Asian-influenced seafood, sushi, and steaks at Aria. The 7,000-square-foot restaurant with room for 336 diners sits between Sage and Julian Serrano Tapas, taking over the former BarMasa and Tetsu space at the resort. Catch instead brings the outdoors inside with its leafy walkway and olive trees in the dining room. MGM Resorts allocated an estimated $6,712,055 in construction costs alone to convert the space.
Coming in 2019, a patio with space for 25 to 30 diners.
Rockwell Group created the look and feel of Catch, looking to the Los Angeles location for inspiration with its open-air space, but “amplified” it for the Vegas setting. The restaurant seems as if it’s indoors yet out, with a Mediterranean feel.
The pergola
The first eye-catcher? The entry tunnel with custom cast concrete planters that flank the 80-foot-long interior pathway with secluded niches. Inside, diners should look for a sculpture of a woman wearing an antique SCUBA mask and other artwork hidden inside the flower and foliage-filled tunnel. Reclaimed red and white oak flooring from abandoned farms and warehouses in the Eastern United States lines the floor.
The dining room
Diners first walk into the bar, then the main dining room with its solid wood wide-plank hickory floors that have a custom hand-applied dark stain. A rustic gray wood trellis hangs over seating area, creating outdoor ambiance, while a large Mediterranean olive tree at center of dining area stretches up to a faux skylight.
Diners sit at custom-dyed Italian leather banquettes with teak wood frames sourced from vintage buildings slated for demolition in Southeast Asia, while the tables feature walnut plank tabletops with blackened metal details .
The sushi bar
Next to the main dining room a sushi bar with an elegant white quartzite top from Brazil with subtle notes of green and blue in the veining and an aged copper bar die. Handmade teal tiles behind the sushi bar look like patina copper.
The bar
Diners enter the bar from the tunnel to find a 15-foot-tall vaulted ceiling, custom textured plaster wall finish, and hand-distressed brick walls throughout. The ceiling uses recycled Teak wood tiles from Indonesia, flanked by arched ceilings made from reclaimed redwood from Northern California with a soft white wash finish create a warm, muted look. The bar top features exotic green and blue quartzite bar top, while the back wall of the bar features a glimpse into the main dining room and a tiered, 10-step liquor tower.
The private dining room
The private dining room features hand-distress brick walls and wainscot made from reclaimed redwood from Northern California with a soft white wash finish. The room can open via a sliding wall to the main dining room or remain private, and can accommodate performances with a small stage.
